National Assessment of Educational Progress
Welcome to Your FIRST DAY!
Congratulations - kids and parents - on your next year of education in Middle School! Whether you are a first-timer entering sixth grade or looking forward to high school, there's always something new to expect or experience. Below is a summary of what's new and different for you and your student as they enter a new grade. IRMS also has a dedicated office for each grade, for more detailed information or specific concerns. Welcome to the new school year!
IRMS Selected for NAEP Participation
Ours school has been selected to participate in the 2017 National Assessment of Educational Progress. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. It is administered by the National Center of Education Statistics, within the U.S. Department of Education. NAEP is different from our state assessment because it provides a common measure of student achievement to educators, parent, policymakers and the public.
A random sample of our 8th grade students has been selected for the assessment. At our school, NAEP will be given on Wednesday, February 22, 2017.
Letters were sent home with the selected students on December 16, 2016.
All assessment responses are confidential, and no results will be reported for or about individual students or schools.
If you would like additional information regarding NAEP, please contact Mrs. Morgan at 754-323-3351.
